Custom Formula Development
Yes. Our R&D team develops customised formulas for different markets and claims — moisturising, whitening and brightening, anti-ageing and firming, anti-acne and oil control, barrier repair, soothing and sensitive skin, scalp and hair care, sun protection and more. Give us a concept and we will turn it into a manufacturable, compliant, stable product.
A modification of an existing formula usually takes 7–15 working days to first sample. A brand-new formula developed from a brief typically takes 15–30 working days to first sample, plus 4–12 weeks of stability testing if you want full data before launch. Complex systems — high-concentration vitamin C, retinol, sunscreen, anhydrous balms, colour matching — take longer.
It depends on the scope. Simple adjustments to a formula you already own are free. A formula developed completely to your specification is USD 200 per item. If you need a third-party stability test report to support registration or a retailer requirement, that is USD 300 per item. All of these are quoted before we start, and the customised sample fee is credited against your first production order.
A formula that you have paid us to develop belongs to you. We will not supply that formula to any other customer. Formulas taken from our existing 5,000+ standard library remain our property and may be used for other customers, unless you purchase exclusivity for a defined market.
Yes. Every customer receives a complete INCI list in descending order for labelling and registration purposes, plus MSDS and COA. Exact percentages of our proprietary base formulas are normally shared under NDA or with your registration authority / safety assessor directly, since that is the part that represents our R&D investment.
Yes — but the claim must be legal in your market. Some words permitted in Asia ("whitening") are restricted in the EU and the US, where "brightening" or "evens skin tone" is the safe wording. Tell us where you intend to sell and we will build the formula and the claim wording together so your label passes customs and platform review.
Yes to all of these. We do not test any of our products on animals. We can formulate vegan (no animal-derived ingredients), halal-compliant (no ethanol, no porcine or non-halal animal derivatives, halal-certified raw materials), alcohol-free, fragrance-free, essential-oil-free, silicone-free, sulphate-free, paraben-free, or to a specific retailer's restricted substance list. Tell us the standard you must meet and we will build to it.
Yes. Send us a physical reference sample — that is far more useful than a description. We can match texture and slip, colour, and fragrance profile (or source an equivalent fragrance oil from our perfume house partners). Note that an exact fragrance match is sometimes limited by IFRA restrictions and by allergen declaration rules in the EU.
Yes, and we check this routinely. We screen formulas against EU Regulation 1223/2009 annexes, US FDA and California Prop 65, ASEAN Cosmetic Directive, Indonesia BPOM, Saudi SFDA / GSO, and other market lists. If your market bans an ingredient in our standard formula, we substitute it before sampling rather than after your registration fails.
Yes — reformulation and troubleshooting is a regular part of our work. Send us the product and its ingredient list. Typical causes we investigate are surfactant system and total anionic load, preservative choice, pH drift, fragrance allergens, essential-oil or menthol content, and residual free formaldehyde from certain preservatives. We then rebuild the formula with a milder system and run a repeat-insult patch test if you want documented proof of the improvement.
Yes. Separation, colour drift, viscosity drop and phase inversion are almost always emulsifier system, electrolyte, or process-temperature issues. We can rebuild the emulsion system and run accelerated stability (45°C for 3 months, freeze-thaw cycling, centrifuge, and light exposure) to prove the fix before you commit to production.
More than 5,000 mature, production-proven formulas across all our categories. In most cases we can find something close to your concept in the library and adjust it — which is faster, cheaper and lower-risk than starting from zero.
Yes. We work with the full range of current actives — niacinamide, alpha-arbutin, tranexamic acid, vitamin C derivatives, retinol and retinal, bakuchiol, peptide complexes, ceramides, ectoin, hyaluronic acid of multiple molecular weights, centella asiatica, mugwort, bifida ferment lysate, fermented rice, salicylic acid, AHA/BHA/PHA and more. We will also tell you honestly when an active is more marketing than evidence, and what concentration is actually needed to support your claim.
