Cosmetics OEM MOQ & Pricing
MOQ depends on the product type, formula, packaging and level of customisation. For standard products with in-stock packaging, MOQ starts from 500 units per SKU. Where the packaging itself is customised — for example a custom bottle colour or a custom tube colour — the minimum rises to 3,000 units per SKU, because colour matching has its own supplier minimum. Fully custom-moulded packaging starts from 10,000 units.
There are actually two MOQs behind every quotation: the **formula MOQ** (the smallest batch our mixing tanks can produce consistently) and the **packaging MOQ** (the smallest quantity the bottle, cap, pump, tube or printed carton supplier will accept). Your real MOQ is whichever is higher. This is why a serum in a stock 30ml dropper bottle can start at 500 pcs, while the same serum in a custom-moulded bottle may start at 10,000 pcs.
Per SKU. Each formula + each packaging size + each shade counts as a separate SKU. If you want three shades of the same lipstick, each shade normally has to reach its own minimum.
Yes — mixed orders are welcome and this is the usual way new brands start. You still need to meet the per-SKU minimum, but combining SKUs in one shipment reduces your freight cost per unit and often improves the price tier.
In some cases yes, for stock formulas with in-stock packaging. A below-MOQ trial order carries a higher unit price because setup, cleaning and changeover costs are spread over fewer units. Tell us the quantity you want and we will tell you honestly whether it is possible.
The MOQ itself is driven by supplier minimums rather than by loyalty, so it usually stays the same — but repeat orders are faster (formula and artwork are already approved) and we can often offer better pricing tiers or hold safety stock of your packaging for you.
Custom-moulded packaging starts at 10,000 pieces per component. A PET bottle mould costs approximately USD 1,000 and takes around 6 weeks to develop and test. It is the right move once your volume is proven; for a launch we usually recommend stock packaging with a custom colour (from 3,000 units) or distinctive label and carton printing — you get a strong shelf presence at a fraction of the investment.
Send us: product category and format, target market, quantity per SKU, packaging preference (stock or custom), any special actives or claims, artwork status, and your target price if you have one. With that we normally come back within 24–48 hours with a quotation, or with a short list of questions if something is unclear.
Our standard quotation is FOB Guangzhou / Shenzhen and includes: bulk formula, primary packaging, label printing and application, carton, filling and assembly, standard QC and export documents. It does not include international freight, insurance, import duty, local registration fees, custom mould fees, or third-party efficacy/clinical testing. We can also quote EXW, CIF, DAP or DDP if you prefer.
Almost always because the specification is not actually the same. Active concentration (2% niacinamide vs 10%), the grade and origin of the raw materials, the weight and wall thickness of the bottle, whether the pump is a normal pump or an airless system, the quality of printing, and whether stability and microbiological testing are included — all of these move the price. Ask every supplier for the full spec sheet, not just the number.
Possible one-time costs are: custom formula development beyond the included sample rounds, artwork adaptation for special printing, silk-screen or hot-stamping plate fees, custom mould fees, and third-party testing (SPF, efficacy, safety assessment) if your market requires it. All of these are quoted to you in advance — we do not add surprises to the invoice.
Our standard quotation validity is 30 days. Cosmetic raw materials and packaging resin prices move, so for longer projects we re-confirm before contract signing.
Often yes, if you tell us the target price at the beginning. We can reach a price point by adjusting packaging weight, fill size, active concentration or order quantity — but we will always tell you which lever we are pulling. We would rather lose an order than quietly downgrade a formula to hit a number.
Yes, significantly. Our price tiers step at 500, 1,000, 3,000 and 10,000 units per SKU. Ask us for a tiered quotation and you can see exactly where the steps are before you decide your order size.
